Big Book Giveaway Contest

I want to say a huge THANK YOU to you, faithful readers, by holding a book giveaway contest.

*** The GRAND PRIZE WINNER will receive a complete author-signed collection of three of my books: We Who Are Alive & Remain, A Company of Heroes, and Shifty’s War.

* The RUNNER UP will receive one author-signed copy of my newest book, Shifty’s War.

You may have already bought these books (many thanks if you did), yet I encourage you to enter the contest anyway. The books are great to add to any collection or to give away as gifts.

Important:

1)      To enter, simply write a comment in this blog posting below with YOUR FIRST AND LAST NAME and ONE THING YOU’RE THANKFUL FOR. No hoops to jump through--that’s all there is to it. (Note: If you’re reading this post via Feedblitz or a RSS feed, you’ll probably need to go directly to my website www.marcusbrotherton.com to do this.)

2)      Contest closes Sunday November 27, at 8 p.m. PST. Any comments received after that will not be counted.

3)      I’ll put all names into a hat and randomly draw two winners—the grand prize winner first and then the runner up.

4)      I’ll announce the names of winners on a blog post here on Monday, November 28. The winners can e-mail me with their mailing addresses, and I’ll get the books out to them right after that.

5)      Both domestic and international entries are welcome. (The last person who won a book from me lived in the UK).

That’s it.

Thanks again everybody. Here’s kicking off a great holiday season.

As I was the winner of the last competition, I do not want to win this time. I would prefer if someone had the fantastic opportunity that I had to receive a signed book through the post.

Anyway, to answer the question, I am happy with the goodness of people. We tend to think of the bad things in life like the recession, mortgage foreclosures and the current wars; however, I prefer to focus on the great things we are capable of. Life is great!

I will also be very happy for the winner of your great books. I am currently reading "Shifty's war"; finally found the time to sit and read it.

Regards from Normandy,

Andy

I'm thankful for the opportunities afforded to me by those who have sacrificed everthing; although unknowlingly, for me. I'm thankful for those men and women who serve everyday, and I'm thankful for those people who shares their stories through documentation so that we may all know and understand the sacrifices these soldier made during, and after their time served. Without a doubt, I'm thankful for my freedom!

Mostly; and above all, I'm thankful my sins are forgiven by the sacrifice of Jesus.

Posting only one thing that I am thankful for is so difficult! Having taught Jr. High Sunday School for the last year and a half, I have been very wary of the "Christian" answers to questions...but I have recently been involved in the Freedom in Christ course at church and it is amazing (there's a "thankful for" right there!) Truly, I am so thankful that, at 7 years old, God adopted me. Everything after that, family, friends, events (good and bad) and provisions are lived out in and through the truth of being "alive". "He who has the Son has life..." Being set free is how we can live out the command, "Be thankful always!" (not that I always do such a great job at that...so it would also be noteworthy to state that I am thankful for GRACE!)
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Brotherton Family!

With all the uncertainties of life, I often feared God would take me before I raised my 4 children. Even with adequate insurance, that possibility haunted me. Now, as I gaze out over our Thanksgiving table at my lawyer, teacher, account manager and police officer and my 6 grandchildren, I'm thankful God kept me around long enough to accomplish and enjoy this. I'm playing with house money and thankful for that every day.

I'm thankful for my Dad. Through the years, he's been a man to model my life after. His love and commitment to my mom, his kids, and now-growing family. His transparency about his failings, and what he's done afterword to get back on track. His willingness to risk and persevere for the sake of eternal things in the lives of others (a second-career YWAM missionary to Japan). He has set the bar high.

I am thankful for my random meeting with Ed Mauser in the 2 short years before his untimely death from cancer. We shared a life time of stories and what an emotional roller coaster ride. To be able to take the oldest surviving member of the Band of Brothers back to Europe for his first trip in over 65 years. To be there with him and share the powerful emotions and to have him ask me to serve as his pall bearer at the end of it all.. I am truly blessed and thankful to have been a part of this experience.

I'm thankful for the time that I had with my sister and my Grandma before they died. My sister was my best friend, she was my partner in crime, she was my confidant, and I loved her more than anything. My Grandma was my mentor, my guide for who I wanted to be when I grow up, she loved me unconditionally, and I felt the same about her. Their loss nearly killed me, and I was so young when their deaths happened (six and ten), but looking back now it was that loss that taught me how important it is to treasure the time that you're given because you don't know when it's all gonna be over. I will forever be thankful to have had them in my life, and I will always love them both.
